Saturday 5 March 7.5 miles
Tracey, Donna, Hilary, Jane
A dull morning, it did not clear all day, infact it rained later and we got a bit wet.
There were some places that were a bit muddy, but being by a river you have to expect that.
It is interesting to see how the Dane meanders between Holmes Chapel and Swettenham. There were the beginnings of the blue bells growing in the woodland areas, it would be worth coming back a little later in the year.
We popped into the Swetty Arms to look at the menu, with the idea of going there for Tracey's birthday. We decided the menu was too ordinary.
We walked passed the lavender field, it looks a bit bedraggled at this time of year, we dropped down into the valley and crossed the river, climbed up the other side. We had to walk through a field with animals in it, none of us were too keen, plus there was a lots of mud and deep ruts.
We sat by the path to have our lunch, the drizzle was trying to start!
We crossed the A50 then walked back along the river, there were trees and branches on the path, the river was very high a few weeks ago so I wondered if the river had flooded and the fence had stopped the trees, branches and twigs from going any further.
Found a cafe in Holmes Chapel, had tea and cake, carrot cake and lemon drizzle.
