We sat in the new conservatory whilst Chris went out side to BBQ the food.

Llantysilio Mountains 8 miles

There was rain most of the week so we didn't know what to expect on the
Saturday. The forecast was for a better day, so we hoped for the best.
We started near the Horseshoe Pass opposite the Ponderosa Cafe.
It wasn't always easy to follow the directions, but we did ok.
We went on some OMG paths - i.e. there was a drop down the mountain.
There were a few puddles left by the rain but we didn't get too wet.
The views were excellent, even though the cloud was a little low the
clarity and colour was beautiful. It was very windy on the top of the
mountain. Summit trig point on Moel Morfydd
(549 m).
The Ponderosa cafe - we did not rate it for tea and homemade cakes, somehow tea
and coffee machines and cake wrapped in cling film did not appeal!!
We stayed overnight in Llangollen at Gales. We enjoyed our meal of Welsh Black rib eye and chips.
Sunday 10 June
We visited Plas Newydd the house of the old ladies.
The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct - also walked across. Free parking!!

Over Peover
Saturday 5 May 6 miles

We
walked over the fields to Peover Hall, an Elizabethan manor house. The
old barns are very attractive. What came first the barn or the barn owl?
It
was lovely walking through the woods with the bluebells, the water, and
the sunshine coming through the trees. It was a bit muddy in places.
Returned
to the Hall and the white gates, then went around to St. Lawrence's
Church where we sat in the churchyard to have our lunch.
To follow the path we had to walk in the furrows - it wasn't too easy.
In one of the fields there were lots of tractors that were ploughing the fields.

Viewing The Cloud from Both Sides

A cloudy day!!
We started at Timbersbrook car park. As we walked to the right out of the car park there was a very nice looking house, perhaps it had only recently been done up as the garden was very open.
Macclesfield Canal
There was a long stretch on the canal.
Just before we left the canal we sat on a walk-way that was to avoid a boggy part of the canal. As we sat there a girl who was running ran though the wet because she couldn't use the walkway as we were in the way. So she had wet trainers!
The Cloud (height 343 metres)
A bit of a steep walk with scrambling near the top. We went to the trig point and there were views all around. The information board pointed out the various directions, we could see across the Cheshire Plain to Helsby Hill and Beeston Castle.
Afternoon tea, i.e. scone and cream with tea in Marton.
